Dragon and Phoenix Pendant Necklaces Carnelian has been used for centuries to carve beautiful cameos. Carnelian was used widely during Roman times to make engraved gems for signet or seal rings for imprinting a seal with wax on correspondence or other important documents. Hot wax does not stick to carnelian. This unique reddish-brown translucent stone was first mined more than 2,000 years ago in India and is said to protect people from quarrels, calm tempers and to bring happiness. Chakra: sacral. This ensemble includes two separate necklaces. In the pendant necklace, I paired round carnelian beads with antique truncated convex metal bicone beads from the Ivory Coast in Africa and patterned brass short convex bicone beads. The antique handmade intricate metal design on the round 2" carnelian Chinese pendant shows a dragon and phoenix representing male and female and is surrounded by butterflies and flowers. This pendant necklace measures 22." In the second sister necklace, I combined round and melon shaped carnelian beads with antique brass truncated convex bicone beads from the Ivory Coast and patterned brass short convex bicone beads. This sister necklace measures 38." Clasps on both necklaces are brass.
